As the only residential summer camp in San Diego for kids with Type 1 Diabetes, Camp Kinneloa is a place where campers feel safe enough to take risks and step outside of their comfort zones. Camp Kinneloa was founded in 2018 with the mission of providing a place where campers can build relationships, experience independence, and gain freedom by embracing diabetes. We strive to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities by transforming perspectives on diabetes care.
Campers at Camp Kinneloa are boys and girls ages 8-14 with Type 1 Diabetes
At Camp Kinneloa we offer a variety of fun camp activities including swimming, group competitions, hiking, basketball, scavenger hunts, lawn games, campfires, arts & crafts, yoga and stargazing.
During our week of camp, we'll host the following Theme Nights: Minute to Win It, Glow in the Dark Bowling, Movie in the Pool Night, Capture the Flag, and Talent Show.
Your child's safety is our priority, especially in regards to diabetes. We have carefully selected quality staff members, including those with camp leadership experience, personal connections to Type 1 diabetes, professional expertise in the medical field, and the motivation to create a week full of adventures for your child. Our hope is that your child will leave Camp Kinneloa connected to a unique community of peers and adults. We want campers to feel empowered to manage diabetes in a healthy way back at home.
